Hidden restaurant in China Town, best find ever.

My friend and I were wandering around the area looking for a place for a light meal, we found Yamato unexpectedly and really loved our dining experience.

Yamato is located in the deep end of Corrs Lane, the restaurant is cosy and busy. It must have gained its popularity through number of years in the Cheap Eat Food Guide, plus the freshly served food and its good menu attracted many Melbourne diners. I have taken photos of the entire menu, you can find them in the gallery below this post.

It was my very first time there, I loved all the decorations in the restaurant: the paper lights, the Japanese photos and masks… It was all very atmospheric. The two of us were brought to a tiny little table in the corner of the shop by the Korean waitress, we could tell that they were expecting more people who reserved tables to be there later. The seating was more comfortable than I have expected given that the table size was considerably small; I’ll give you this: our sushi, agedashi tofu, oysters and sake filled the table up. But, as a light and quick meal, Yamato was fantastic at it and I would recommend it to anyone.
