Stalactites, according to thefreedictionary.com the definition for it is:
An icicle-shaped mineral deposit, usually calcite or aragonite, hanging from the roof of a cavern, formed from the dripping of mineral-rich water.
So now I have learnt a new word I have also tried dining at a new restaurant! Sometimes not being able to pronounce a restaurant name takes me away from visiting that place, cos what if they have their very own for example ‘Stalactites Roll’? I would be pointing at it while ordering like someone who can’t speak English. Ok, into the food >>>
Greek food!! That was for the love of yummy yogurt dips and meat!
Stalactites has always been very popular, the reason I say this is because whenever I walk past it was full of diners and/or take away customers. My friend and I got there nice and early to secure a table, lucky we did that because it got busy soon after. We ordered the Appetizer Platter (for two) which came with three dips (tzatziki, hommus and tarama), feta cheese, dolmadakia (from Turkish dolma, its a finger sized entree with rice and vegetables, often with meat as well stuffed in grapevine leaves), kalamata olives, smoked sausages, Greek rissole and lamb fillet skewers. I should have ordered a salad to compliment all those meat but forgot all about it when I picked the lamb skewer up.
With three people we got quite full from just the platter (for two) and three pita breads. The Chinese saying is “Eat well for breakfast, be full for lunch and eat little for dinner”; by not over-eating during dinner time reduce the digestive system from over working hence functioning better.
Didn’t get the chance to try their desserts (bakalava!!!!), that’ll be the return of me!! =)
