Taro (Yam) Buns and Almond Biscuits – 2 for $7.00; both really tasty

Berry Bread Cake

Half Cake and Half Bread – quite good

Warm Beverages: Coconut Milk Tea and Taro Milk Teal both with pearls (tapioca). $3.50 each milk tea and extra $0.50 for the pearls.

Cake World is yet another cafe + bakery very similar to Bread Kingdom and Breadtop. They do have something different to offer however such as the bread/cake slices and larger beverage varieties including bubble milk tea.

The dining in environment is very simple, perhaps not 100% comfortable – maybe because of the funny chairs and the cooling effect of the white interiors.

Their staff were friendly, unlike some of the ones I have came across Breadtop in the Melbourne CBD in the past. That was a highlight. I wouldn’t mind going there to take a rest after shopping in the market or to catch up with a friend.

Total Cost: $20.00
Number of NurikkoVisits diners: Two (and no, we didn’t eat everything that we have purchased on the day)

  1. i rang them up to ask is taking train the only option to travel to their shop. unexpectedly, the girl who answered my call she was very rude and she cant seem to convey a fluent message with her poor and broken english!

    • Hi there, I do believe that the language barrier exist that can discount even a very good bakery. Travel wise, you may take the Epping or South Morang train to the cake shop. There are also buses including the 527 that travels between Northland shopping centre and Gowrie station (on the Upfield line). There are plenty of parking spaces behind High Street if you plan to drive. For public transport options you may visit and fill in the boxes with ‘423 High St (Preston)’ in the destination section.

Popular cakes are: Berry cake, Tiramisu, Black forrest, fruit salad, chestnut cake, taro cake, green tea cake, classic chocolate. Smaller slices include: mango cake, green tea cake, strawberry and fruit salad cake.

Hope it helps with you decisions,

      Take care

  4. Went to the Preston store and got 2 Swiss rolls. Walked out and forgot to get them sliced, worked back in store and politely asked if they could slice them for me. They refused so I asked for a refund and the said they couldn’t give me one since I had left the store already. This happened to my 80 year old grandpa, and to think they refuse a simple and easy request to slice the rolls and they refused – terrible customer service, never going back there ever again.

  5. hi there they are a self service shop after all and the staff are possibly underpaid. Hence they do not cut rolls for you
