‘Nyonya’ was explained to me meaning ‘female descendent’ – an ethic Chinese woman who intermarried a local Native Indonesian or Malaysian man. The restaurant is located close to the water front of Docklands, on the quiet side; therefore parking was fairly easy to find on that particular evening (week night).

We found Little Nyonya!

I like how the restaurant is brightly lit up

The restaurant is newly refurbished like an oriental palace with a high ceiling; the interior is based on cream and gold colours delivering a royal vibe to the diners.

Moving onto the meal:

There were some very impressive dishes however we weren’t happy with the Fish cake and lady finger dish because the chef screwed up. Funnily enough it raised a debate between my fellow diners and I trying to figure out what ‘lady fingers’ meant; most of us agreed to the explanation of ‘okra’ but there weren’t any in the dish. We had to ask the floor staff for an explanation; he had to take the dish back into the kitchen to confirm that there were suppose to be okra. He came back out and told us that the chef ran out of okra when he prepared the dish… Would probably appreciate a friendly warning if he was to use bitter melon as a replacement! It obviously failed our expectations, so the attendant offered us a ‘enjoy one main for free’ voucher on our next visit.

4 mains shared between five.
