Bibimbap 비빔밥 (Korean pronunciation: pibimbap) is a signature Korean dish. The word literally means the ‘mixed meal’. Bibimbap is served as a bowl of warm white rice topped with namul 나물 (sautéed and seasoned vegetables) and gochujang 고추장 (chili pepper paste). A raw or fried egg and sliced meat (usually beef) are common additions. The ingredients are stirred together thoroughly just before eating. It can be served either cold or hot. – Wikipedia
It is not the Dol Sot Bibimbap (돌솥 비빔밥) meaning ‘Stone Pot Mixed Rice’ you find in some of the Korean Restaurants, The bibimbap from My Rice Story is served in a normal bowl and instead of a raw egg you get an egg roll. In addition to normal bibimbap served in bowl, they have Dol Sot Bibimbap (돌솥 비빔밥) meaning ‘Stone Pot Mixed Rice’. What is considered as unique from this little shop is that you can Create Your Own Bibimbap that is tailored to your own taste.
There are 3 steps to the creation:
1. Choose the rice (plain white rice OR 15 mixed rice)
2. Choose a topping (beef, spicy beef, chicken breast, prawn, scallop, fried egg, kimchi, tofu OR vegetarian)
3. Choose a sauce (Korean spicy chilli sauce (gochujang), honey soy OR sweet chilli)
So apart from the creative bibimbap, you can also order other mains off the menu such as Bento, Noodles or Beef with Rice.
On my first visit I have created my own bibimbap with 15 mixed rice, scallops and gochujang.
My friend has created a different bibimbap with 15 mixed rice, spicy beef, kimchi and sweet & chilli sauce. Each additional topping is $1.00 extra.
To think about it, it is considerably expensive given that such a simple meal cost at least $10.00. But the experience justifies its high cost because there is an Apple Monitor placed in the shop for entertainment and customer service is lovely; also, they open until 8pm!! They also serve “Raw Tuna and Salmon topping Bibimbap” for Friday and Saturday only; I have just been recommended to try their side dishes, veggie dumplings and pancakes as well so maybe you could check it out before I do =)

We go there quite often since they opened. In addition to normal bibimbap served in bowl, They do have dol-sot(hot stone pot) Bibimbap! They also serve “raw tuna and salmon topping Bibimbap” for Friday and Saturday only, which is my all time favorite!
