A modern Japanese cafe/restaurant – the zen to university life.
Located in the restaurant area of Swinburne Hawthorn campus, this cafe is simple and bright. There are modern Japanese artworks displayed on the walls of the restaurant hence allowing diners to appreciate art at the same time.
Their full range of onigiris are very popular and usually sells out quickly; I once got there and desperately bought off the last one standing. Love their service and friendly smiles +)
Owner and chef Kenichi Okumura creates his own very distinct brand of Japanese cuisine at this under-the-radar foodie hotspot. Despite being a Japanese chef through and through, Okumura’s background and training is classically French, making for some interesting cuisine that comes out of his kitchen.
The casual atmosphere makes this place very accessible, and also explains the constant stream of uni students who frequent this place. One trial of the three-course set menu should be enough to convince you this place has earned its industry food cred.
